Courses by Philip Greenwood (RPT)
Philip is based at Greenwood Crafts of Hutton-le-Hole, North Yorkshire.
Philip offers remote online training and advise on any aspect of woodturning. This can be the type of woodturning equipment you need to buy if you are looking to start woodturning, or to help with a woodturning problem. Many problems can be easily sorted out this way without the traveling time involved with attending a physical course. The online courses are one to one. This can be from 30 minutes to 2 hour and will cost £18 per hour. Contact Philip for availability and more details. He will arrange a suitable time to run the course. Woodturning Courses at Philips workshop
Philip’s courses are tailored to the needs of the individual whether you want to try woodturning to see if it is something you may want to pursue further, no experience needed, or if you already have experience and just want to brush up on your techniques or expand your skills, he can tailor the course to suit.
He can give independent advice on different lathes that are on the market, and how they vary and which ones might be the right choice for you.
Philip can also help you with your tool selection, 6 basic tools is all you need to start woodturning. He can show you how to sharpen your tools to get the best from them.
He can discuss the best choice of wood for different projects. He will look at workshop safety, dust control, lighting and heating for a workshop.
Course Fees
Half day course £85
A 3 hour course to suit your needs. This can be what equipment is needed to sorting out a turning problem.
1 Day course £165
This can be an introduction to woodturning, looking at the equipment and tools you need. The day course can also be tailored to sort out any problems you may have. Learn to turn a bowl or a spindle. You will make one item to take home.
2 Day course £300
This will lead on from the first day, learning more techniques, and time to produce more items to take home with you.

Courses are run one to one unless you wish to bring a partner or friend, a discount will be available.

Full day courses will run from 9:30am – 4:30pm. The cost of the course will include: a book about woodturning, the materials used, refreshments and a light lunch.
The date will be arranged with the student, and are available weekdays and weekends
